Redefining Wine Culture For A New Generation Of Entrepreneurs

Wine has long been associated with sophistication, luxury, and elegance. But in recent years, it has also become a go-to beverage for young and seasoned demographics of all ages, experiences, and cultures. Whether it's a celebration, a business meeting, or simply a way to unwind after a long day jamming to A Fine Playlist, wine has become an integral part of the modern life.

Michael Lavelle Wines is one brand at the forefront of this cultural shift. Launched in June 2020, Michael Lavelle Wines is a Black-owned luxury private wine label founded by Howard University alum Aaron "Michael" Coad and Terrence "Lavelle" Low, along with sommelier Devin M. Kennedy and Brandon L. Crump. The founders recognized a void in the market for luxury wines marketed towards millennials and minority audiences and decided to take a creative license to develop a brand that fused their interests in wine, art, and education into a unique and disruptive wine label.

Each wine is crafted with precision and care, focusing on showcasing the unique terroir and characteristics of the grapes used. The brand currently offers two types of wines that are rich and complex. The Iris Zinfandel contains fresh blackberries, dark cherries, vanilla, and hints of cocoa. Iris rosé is on the palate, morello cherries, fresh raspberries, and white flowers that finish dry and with plenty of zip best paired with grilled fish and summer salads. Nonetheless, Michael Lavelle Wines is more than just a wine label. This brand seeks to educate and engage its customers in wine's rich history and culture.
